AMRC The most successful motor racing organization in Sri Lanka
Asian Motor Racing Club, widely known as AMRC has been in the forefront of organizing motor sports events providing the best facilities for Sponsors, Spectators & Competitors.
AMRC main objective was to improve the standards of racing in Sri Lanka through better enforcement of rules and regulations in motor sports in the country. AMRC was instrumental in extending motor sports to the Asian region and successfully entered into the 4th year in active operation. It has organized 5 highly successful tarmac race meets with record numbers in crowds and competitors.
AMRC proudly holds the pole position of organizing first ever night race under flood lights in Sri Lanka and has conducted race meets in accordance with international standards and became the cynosure of the racing fraternity by introducing cash prizes to all winners for the first time. Furthermore AMRC organized 8 tarmac formula LGB races in India during 2007 and 2008 and was also the first Sri Lanka team to participate in a 24 hour non stop pro kart endurance race in India (GOA).
AMRC Speed Drome provides facilities to host rally start/finish events and Gymkhana events at AMRC's own Pro-kart race track in Batharamulla. It has also hosted the only student pro kart event to date. In addition AMRC sent a driver to participate in Stock Car event in Malaysia’s Sapang Circuit in 2008 and is planning to select a young driver to participate in the Formula BMW series in ASIA this year. More over AMRC is involved in Planning, Designing and Constructing a Formula Car along with students from universities in Sri Lanka with a view to participate in a competition in Japan in 2009 and in conjunction has sent 3 students to Japan to witness Japan's SAE formula completion. It is the only racing club to have conducted drivers training courses overseas regularly and possess dedicated office and permanent administrative staff.
AMRC has been a strong force in creating impressions and build lasting relationships amongst the racing fraternity in the country and had the pleasure of presenting its own year calendar to all members. In keeping with the traditions and camaraderie or racing, AMRC hosted renowned racing driver Dilantha Malagamuwa for reception to facilitate his double victory in Astern Martin and Porsche series in ASIA.
