Originating in Scotland, the society is one of the most ancient ‘Clans’ of Scotland whose chiefs were cadets of the Celtic dynastic house of the Earls of Strathearn. It is an international body with more than 12 registered member countries. Membership for our Group became possible due to the founding father - Mr. J.D. McLaren who was a Scotsman.
The Clan Maclaren Society enables the Clan to carry out its traditional functions, foster a sense of kinship between members all over the world, collect genealogical information, encourage study of the history of the Clan and provide news and information on Clan matters.
The current Chief is Donald MacLaren who is in the Diplomatic Service of Great Britain having served in Berlin, Moscow, Havana, Caracas and the Republic of Georgia.
Many events are held throughout the year, the highlight of which is the Traditional Highland Games which are held at Lochearnhead which includes a Pipe Band and Clans March, Pure Malt Whiskey tasting and traditional Folk Band.
